Outline of Research at the Start

流体方程式の適切性/特異性の解明は流体方程式の数値解析の理論的裏付けとして多くの分野にまたがる基礎的な問題である一方,流体の最大の未解決問題である乱流の理解と制御に決定的な役割を果たすことから数学のミレニアム問題の一つにも挙げられている大問題である.本研究課題は渦運動の視点から流体方程式の特異性とそれに関わる乱流の統計性の問題を戦略的に研究することを目的としており,理論・モデル解析と大規模数値解析を融合させることによってこれまでの特異点探索における困難を克服し,乱流の解明と制御への筋道をつけるとともにミレニアム問題の解決に導くブレークスルーの達成を目指している.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

流体方程式の適切性/特異性の解明は流体方程式の数値解析の理論的裏付けとして多くの分野にまたがる基礎的な問題である一方,流体の最大の未解決問題である乱流の理解と制御に決定的な役割を果たすことから数学のミレニアム問題の一つにも挙げられている大問題である.本研究課題は 渦運動の視点から流体方程式の特異性とそれに関わる乱流の統計性の問題を戦略的に研究することを目的としている.学術的な「問い」として(1)流体方程式の特異性を正確に捉えるための方法論,(2)乱流中の渦フィラメントの安定化問題,(3)渦リコネクションにおける特異点の正則化問題,(4)渦フィラメントの特異性と乱流の統計性の問題,(5)渦フィラメントの相互作用についてのリモートセンシングを掲げ, 理論・モデル解析と大規模数値解析を融合させることによってこれまでの特異点探索における困難を克服し,これらの「問い」に答えることを目的とし.この解決によって乱流の解明と制御への筋道をつけるとともにミレニアム問題の解決に導くブレークスルーの達成を目指している.
前年度に引き続き,P.J.Morrison教授(テキサス大学オースティン校)との共同研究を進展させ,Moffatt & Kimura (2019a)で与えられた力学系の非粘性極限の解析を拡張されたHamiltonianを用いて行った.Moffatt & Kimura (2019a)の非粘性極限は3つの変数に対する3つの非線形方程式で与えられるが、その解は拡張されたHamilton, Hとそれとは独立な不変量, Cで表される2つの曲面の交線として与えられる.特にH=0, C=0 の交線はJean Leray によって解析されたNavier-Stokes 方程式の特異解と同様のスケーリング則を与えることが分かり,本年度はその特異解の安定性の議論を行い,アメリカ物理学会で発表した.

Current Status of Research Progress

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

Moffatt & Kimura (2019a)で得られた力学系が粘性が0の場合に拡張されたHamiltonianで記述でき、さらに力学系がHamiltonianと独立な不変量を持つことは問題の拡張として非常に重要な発見であり、特に粘性が存在するNavier-Stokes方程式における解の振る舞いを解析する上で様々な示唆を与える可能性を示した大きな進展であると考える.
特異性をもつ力学系が(拡張された)Hamilton 力学系として記述できることは大変新しい視点を与える.何故ならば特異性の出現が幾何学的構造を保って実現される例が与えられるからである.これは多くの間欠的でありかつ極端な事象を解析する上で重要なモデルケースとなることが期待され,今後の進展が興味深いものになることを示していると考える.以上の理由により区分は「(2) おおむね順調に進展している。」とした.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

これまでの成果を踏まえて,P.J.Morrison教授との共同研究を推進し,非粘性の場合に対応する拡張されたHamiltonian系の解析を進める.特にH=0, C=0 の場合のLeray スケール解についての解析を完成させ公表することを目指す.さらに以下の内容について考察を進める.(1)分担者の藤原氏との共同研究でBioto-Savart 法を用いての渦フィラメント系の運動方程式の正則化についての議論を進め古典的なRosenhead による正則化法のもつ問題を明らかにする.この問題は.Moffatt & Kimura (2019a) の力学系による予測とDNSを用いての数値解析との差異を説明する上で重要な示唆を与えると考える.この問題を受けて(2)Navier-Stokes方程式のDNSコードの改良を行い,渦度の大きさに応じてのアダプティブなメッシュ間隔が実現できるようなスキームの構築を目指し,力学系モデ
ルとDNSの結果の乖離の解決を図る.(3)Moffatt & Kimura (2019a,b)の力学系の解に対応して2つの傾渦輪がリコネクション時に生成する渦音の音圧をLighthill の理論をもとにMohring の解析を参考にして考察する.(4)Buntine & Pullin (1989) によるBurgers 渦のシミュレーションコードを再構築し渦リコネクションに対する局所問題を再考する.
