Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、TGO探査機が実現する火星周回軌道初の火星大気鉛直構造とその変動の高精度観測を足がかりとして、火星環境変化の決定要因「大気と水の流出」の現在を掌握し(目標1)、その過去の再現へと活かす(目標2)。
[目標1] 現火星で、表層と結合する下層大気から宇宙へと開かれた上層大気へ至る物質・エネルギーの鉛直輸送機構を、平常時と大規模擾乱時の比較によって掌握する。
[目標2] 目標1で得られた知見によって、過去火星の大気環境とその変動の支配プロセスを評価し、数値モデルによる過去火星の大気環境とその変動・進化の再現を目指す。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

(A) リム観測による対流圏・中間圏大気の鉛直構造観測: リトリーバルツール開発を進捗させ、氷・ダスト粒子の高度分布導出に漕ぎ着けた(口頭発表: 小暮+ 2022)。また、ExoMars TGOでCOの高度分布変動から拡散係数の導出を行うとともに、同位体比を用いた検証にも着手した (論文:Yoshida+ 2022, 口頭発表:吉田+ 2022,2023, 塩原+ 2022,2023など)。CO2吸収を用いた地表気圧導出を引き続き進めた(口頭発表: 風間+ 2022,2023)。
(B) 米MAVEN等による熱圏・外圏大気の鉛直構造観測: 本研究を拡張すべく、火星衛星サンプルリターンミッション JAXA MMXにおける可視-赤外線撮像観測および流出粒子観測を包絡する火星環境観測の結合検討を進めた (論文: Nakagawa+ 2022 など)。
(C) 地上・航空機望遠鏡による全球水平構造観測: ハレアカラT60観測で安定性が問題となったヘテロダイン観測装置のファイバー化開発作業を進め、引き続く観測への準備を進めた(論文:Nakagawa+ 2023; 口頭発表:塚田+ 2022)。
(D) 対流圏-中間圏・熱圏-外圏鉛直結合モデル: 河川による太古の地形変化再現が可能なモデル古環境モデルにより、大気組成とその変動が与えうる現地形への影響について更に検討を進めた (論文:Kamada+ 2022, 口頭発表:鎌田+ 2022,2023)。また、火星モデルと連携して金星雲モデルの開発も進めた(論文:Karyu+ 2023, )。さらに古表層水環境の痕跡をRSLが集中するCAP領域をレーダーデータで初探索し、成果としてまとめた(論文: Oura+ 2022)。

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

データ解析・モデル研究を中心に作業は進捗し、凸凹があるものの、概ね全体としては順調に進展といってよい状態に回復したものの、以下の要因で遅延が存在する。
(1) 荒天・停電起因に伴う故障によりハワイ現地のT60望遠鏡が制御できず、火星最接近時の地上観測を順延した。
(2) 火星リトリーバルツール開発において、放射伝達計算の改善が必要であることが明瞭となり、その作業を先行して進行させた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

成果を論文として公表し、また新開発ツールを成果創出およびJAXA MMXミッションの準備へ展開していく。H3ロケット打上失敗に伴うMMXの遅延が発生したため、その準備作業との同期で繰り越し延長も検討する。特に以下の諸活動の発展を行う。
(A/B) 探査機による対流圏・中間圏・熱圏・外圏大気の構造観測: 笠羽 [代表]、岩渕・中川・青木 [分担]、MEXのBibring [OMEGA:仏IAS]、TGOのVandaele [NOMAD:ベルギーIASB]らの共同。Limb方向新リトリーバルツールおよび2022年度に原型ができあがった水平圧力導出ツールを更に改良し、MEX/ OMEGAの観測データへの適用でアエロゾル・H2O等の構造と季節・緯度・ローカルタイム依存性の導出を試みる。また、より上層を見る 米MAVEN (共同研究者の寺田・中川 [分担]、堺(東北大/助教)らとMahaffy [NGIMS:米NASA]・Schneider [IUVS:米コロラド大] ら) と併せ、熱圏との接続についての評価も進める。
(C) 地上望遠鏡による全球構造観測: 大型光赤外望遠鏡・ALMA(佐川・青木 [分担])やハレアカラT60/MILAHI(中川 [分担]・笠羽[代表]、村田 ・坂野井(東北大/准教授)) の共同。中間赤外域分光でファイバー化などの開発試験を踏まえ仙台市天文台およびハレアカラT60による観測を試みる。
(D) 対流圏-中間圏および熱圏-外圏モデルによる現大気環境の変動機構と古環境の再現。寺田・黒田 [分担]、および前者は高橋(神戸大)・Med vedev(独MPI)、後者はLeblanc (仏LATMOS)の共同。現・過去大気環境を跨ぐモデル開発を更に進め、MMXおよび国際火星浅地下探査計画IceMapper検討につなげていく。
