Outline of Research at the Start

我々のグループによって開発・高度化が進められ、現在までに約300GPa、1200 Kにおよぶ超高圧高温環境下での変形実験が可能な回転式ダイヤモンドアンビル装置と放射光X線測定系のさらなる高度化を行い、地球内核圧力温度までの定量的変形実験を可能にする。地球内核を構成する金属鉄の粘性と変形誘起結晶方位選択配向を実験で制約し、内核の複雑な地震波構造の起源とダイナミクスの解明を目指す。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

Technical developments on ultra-high pressure deformation experiments have been achieved toward understanding the dynamics of Earth's inner core.1. development of a rotational diamond anvil cell and high-temperature generation, 2. measurement system of rheological properties: combined X-ray diffraction and X-ray laminography in a synchrotron facility.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

地球の深部は極めて高い圧力と温度が支配しており、文字通りのフロンティアで直接探査が不可能な領域です。このような「直接観る」ことが不可能な世界を理解するため、本課題では特にそのダイナミクスに焦点をあて、地球中心圧力温度環境下での地球物質の変形実験実現を目指し新しい装置を開発しました。
