Outline of Research at the Start

「多電子移動能」と「結合組み換え能」を併せ持つ多核クラスター錯体を研究開発の中心に据え，小分子の多電子酸化還元を促す革新的な触媒の創出を目指した触媒開発基礎研究を推進します。そのために，金属イオンの種類・数ならびに配位子の電子構造が異なる種々の多核金属錯体を開発し，得られた錯体の多電子酸化還元能を網羅的に評価します。加えて，触媒反応中に生成する反応中間体の構造ならびに電子状態についても精密に解析することで触媒反応機構を詳細に理解します。これらの研究を通じ，小分子の多電子酸化還元を自在に操るための学理を創出することが本研究の最終目標です。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、生体酵素の活性中心の構造ならびに申請者のこれまでの研究から得た着想に従い、小分子の多電子酸化還元を促す革新的な触媒の創出を目指した触媒開発基礎研究を推進している。具体的には、「多電子移動能」と「結合組み換え能」を有する新規多核クラスター錯体を複数種合成し、その構造、電子状態ならびに酸化還元能の解析を行うとともに、合成した多核クラスター錯体の小分子変換反応に対する触媒能の評価を行っている。今年度は特に、異種金属多核錯体の小分子変換反応に対する触媒能の評価の遂行に注力した。代表的な成果として、2つのルテニウムイオンと3つのコバルトイオンにより形成される異種金属五核錯体触媒の開発が挙げられる。本五核錯体の内部には立体的に孤立したブレンステッド酸／塩基サイトが存在している。サイクリックボルタンメトリー（CV）測定を行ったところ、ブレンステッド酸サイトを有する錯体のボルタモグラムの波形は，ブレンステッド塩基サイトを有する錯体のものと大きく異なることが明らかになった。これは、五核錯体に内包されたH＋が五核錯体の電子移動能に大きな影響を与えることを示している。また、10%の水存在下で定電位電解を実施し、気相をガスクロマトグラフィーで分析したところ，ブレンステッド塩基サイトを有する錯体を用いた場合のみ、ファラデー効率99%で水素の発生が確認された。よって、ブレンステッド酸サイトを有する錯体が触媒活性を示さない一方で、ブレンステッド塩基サイトを有する錯体は水素発生触媒として機能することが示された。この結果は、五核錯体に内包されたH＋の有無によって錯体の触媒機能が制御できることを示す、重要な成果である。
