Outline of Research at the Start

In this project we will combine physiology and genetic approaches to investigate the mechanisms of integration of information and oscillations, revealing their individual roles in memory, as well as yield insight to treatments of disorders involving aberrant neural dynamics.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

This grant was only active for 3 months due to the awarding of a KIBAN S on the same research topic in 07/2019. During that period I actively prepared for experiments examining the physiology of cFos positive neurons in regions upstream and downstream of CA1, CA3 and the mPFC (ACC). We bred the necessary mice for the experiments and prepared the required viral and physiological reagents. Pilot injects were conducted to control the timeline of viral expression and ensure both regions can be targeted.
