Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、「大学等発ベンチャー」（大学及び公的研究所での研究活動から生まれた技術等をもとに設立されたベンチャー企業）に焦点を当て、その設立から事業化、成長までのプロセスを、大学等が保有する技術・ノウハウの開示方法、国内外の他企業等との連携、資金調達や人材獲得、知的財産の権利化や活用など多様な観点から捉え、国際比較を通じて日本における大学等発ベンチャーの現状や課題を明らかにし、設立から事業展開、その後の発展のための政策及び経営上の示唆を考察する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は、2019年度～2023年度までの5ヵ年に、大学発ベンチャーの設立から事業化、成長のプロセスに影響を与える要因を、海外（フィンランド、シンガポール）との比較のもとに明らかにすることを目的とした。しかし、2020年初頭から始まった新型コロナウィルス感染症の蔓延の影響で海外（特にシンガポール）での調査が計画通り実施できなかった。その代替策として2021年度以降、研究の重点を国内の大学発ベンチャーに当て、関連する文献等の整理及び追加的なヒアリングを行い、大学発ベンチャーの設立・事業化・成長の規定要因を探索した。
2023年度は、新しい文献等の収集・整理のほか、その過程で浮かび上がった事例として、北海道大学・産学連携推進本部及び同大学発ベンチャーへのヒアリングを実施した。その結果、以下の点が明らかとなった。
1.大学発ベンチャーにおける固有の利点として、キャンパス内の施設（研究室）や大学院生等を活用できる点が挙げられる。2. 大学発ベンチャーが生み出す技術的成果の事業化では、その先進性に基づいて関連市場の最もハイエンドから攻めることが重要になる。3.大学と既存企業との合同で設立される大学発ベンチャーとしての事業化は、「良い隠れ蓑」になることがある（かりに収益があがらなくても許容されやすい）。4. 大学発ベンチャーは、「大学」というバックがあることで信用されやすいという反面、ビジネスでの成功からは遠く、「どうせ失敗するだろう」というネガティブなイメージも伴う。5. 大学発ベンチャーの安定的な成長にとっては、研究成果の事業化だけでなく、教育上の経験を基盤とした事業が重要な役割を果たす。
これらの発見的事実に基づき、特に大学発ベンチャーにおける技術成果の事業化と成長に関するこれまでの研究成果を論文等としてまとめ、2024年以降に国内外の学会等で発表することを計画している。
