Outline of Research at the Start

近年、学術界からも実務界からも消費者の五感に訴求する感覚マーケティングへの注目が 高まっている。しかしながら、感覚マーケティングに関する従来の研究は、断片的な消費者反応の理解にとどまっており、実務への応用を念頭に置いた包括的な理解が進んでいない。そこで本研究においては企業による施策の立案から消費者の購買行動に至るまでのプロセスを描き出し、感覚マーケティングの包括的な検討を進めていく。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study, we have focused on sensory marketing, which seeks to utilize the five senses in marketing. In particular, we have explored (1) diverse responses to sensory stimuli, (2) consumer responses to cross-modal stimuli, and (3) corporate efforts toward sensory marketing. With regard to (1), we investigated several experiments in actual stores in cooperation with companies and gained knowledge about lighting and coupons. Regarding (2), we have already published some papers focusing on the connection between the visual and tactile senses. Regarding (3), we have gained certain insights into the role of sensory marketing in retail companies.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究においては、実務的にも学術的にも注目を集めている感覚マーケティングに関する知見を積み重ねてきた。特に、先行研究においては、架空の購買環境を想定したうえでアンケート調査などを実施する形で議論が進められてきていたが、本研究においては、実際の店舗を用いた実験や購買データの分析などを進めることにより、よりリアリティのある感覚マーケティングの知見を提供することができた。また、従来の議論では不十分であった複数の感覚に注目した議論も進展させることにより、消費者の反応を包括的に捉えるための基盤を提供した。さらに、企業側の意識や取り組みに注目したことで、実務への応用可能性を高めることができたと考えている。
