Outline of Research at the Start

原子気体ボース・アインシュタイン凝縮体(BEC)におけるトポロジカル相を理論的に探索する。ここでのトポロジカル相とは、波数空間において波動関数がトポロジカルに非自明な状態をとるものであり、実空間で周期構造を持つBECからの準粒子励起の性質により決まる。この系の第一の特徴は、孤立系でありながらハミルトニアンが非エルミートであるという点である。非エルミート演算子は対角化不可能な「例外点」が存在することが知られており、例外点の関与した新奇なトポロジカル相の出現が期待される。第二の特徴は、スピンテクスチャにより実空間の周期構造を作れるという点で、実空間と波数空間の双方のトポロジカル構造の関係性が研究できる。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

以下の研究を行った。
①1次元ボース・ハバードモデルにおける多体の量子状態を厳密に計算し、基底状態から流れのある励起状態への振動外場による遷移の過程を調べた。その結果、多体系でスペクトルが密であるにも関わらず、共鳴現象はほぼ2準位のみの関与するラビ振動の形で得られ、精度のよい流れの制御が可能であることが分かった。これは、系の対称性から共鳴しうる状態が限定されるためである。本結果はPhys. Rev. A 誌に投稿中である。
②原子気体のキックローターモデルにより、フロケトポロジカル相の実現に向けたモデルを考案した。スピン自由度を持った原子気体にスピン依存した光格子ポテンシャルを周期的なパルスとして照射すると、一周期の時間発展が波数空間の強束縛モデルとして書ける（キックローター）。特に、一周期に2回光格子パルスを打ち込むと、スピンと副格子の合計4自由度を持つモデルを構築できる。この系の対称性を詳しく調べた結果、一次元でトポロジカルに非自明な構造をとるクラスがすべて、光格子のパラメータを操作するだけで得られることが分かった。
③スピンと軌道角運動量(S-OAM)が結合した原子気体BECにおいて、渦生成のダイナミクスの研究を行った。 S-OAM結合はBEC中にスピンテクスチャを作り、原子に実効的に働く人工的なゲージ場を生み出す。特に、本研究で考えたスピンテクスチャはBECの中心付近に局在した人工磁場を作る。その結果、BECの中心で渦・反渦が生成された後、一方のみがBECの外部に放出されて、安定な渦状態に至るというダイナミクスを得た。この結果は台湾の実験グループとの国際共同研究で、理論計算の結果は実験結果を定量的によく説明するものであった。本研究はPhys. Rev. Lett. 誌に投稿中である。
