Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、以下の計画で中赤外スーパーコンティニュームレーザーを光源とした赤外分光マイクロトモグラフィー(MIRS-laser-CT)の開発に取り組む。
1年目は、3次元赤外分光マイクロトモグラフィー開発要素技術を確立する。具体的には、レーザー光学系・回転装置機構の導入を行う。
2年目は、3次元データ再構成法を確立し、試料調整法および試料状態の最適化を行う。
3年目は、開発したMIRS-laser-CTで炭素質コンドライト隕石中の有機物と水の空間分布を測定する。
4年目は、MIRS-laser-CTを様々な地球外物質や室内模擬実験試料に応用する。
5年目は、これまでの成果を総括し、地球惑星科学分野の国際学会で発表、一流国際誌に論文を投稿する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

当該年度は、小惑星探査計画「はやぶさ2」で帰還した小惑星リュウグウサンプルの初期分析における固体有機物分析チームリーダーとしての任務に専心した。チームの成果は以下のとおりである。

小惑星リュウグウ試料をさまざまな顕微分光法で非破壊分析した結果、試料中の有機物を構成する官能基組成は芳香族炭素、脂肪族炭素、ケトン、カルボキシルを含み、最も始源的な炭素質コンドライト隕石のものに類似した。また、ナノグロビュール状有機物や薄く広がった不定形の有機物が層状ケイ酸塩や炭酸塩に混じり合った状態が見出され、これらの有機物がリュウグウ母天体で液体の水と反応して生じた証拠を見出した。リュウグウ試料の有機物にはグラファイト様構造は見られなかったことから、これらの有機物は母天体内部や天体衝突によって高温で加熱されなかったことを示した。
また、リュウグウ試料から重水素および/または窒素15が濃集している領域が検出されたことから、分析したリュウグウの有機物はたしかに地球外起源であることが示されたと共に、これらの少なくとも一部の有機物は星間分子雲や原始惑星系円盤外側などの極低温環境で形成されたことが明らかとなった。

上述の活動により、地球外有機物の3次元分布観察を実現させるために中赤外スーパーコンティニュームレーザーを光源とした赤外分光マイクロトモグラフィー(MIRS-laser-CT)の開発に取り組む当該研究を十分に進めることができなかったが、現時点では、厚さ一定の試料であればその2次元分布を赤外レーザーを用いて取得することができる段階に到達している。
