Outline of Research at the Start

A) 可視域(400 THz 以上)の光学迷彩の実現
メタマテリアルフィルムの設計・作製,その光学定数の評価および作製したフィルムを迷彩対象物に巻き付け,紫外可視分光イメージングを行う
B) 広帯域で動作する光学迷彩の実現
広帯域用の多層メタマテリアルフィルムの設計・作製,その光学定数の評価および作製したフィルムを迷彩対象物に巻き付け,紫外可視分光イメージングを行う
C) 様々な形状の迷彩対象物に対する,赤外光学迷彩の実現
各種多角形に対応したメタマテリアルフィルムの設計を行う

Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study, we proposed a special metamaterial whose magnetic permeability can be precisely controlled at high frequencies. The proposed metamaterial was encapsulated in an organic thin film with a specific permittivity and permeability distribution, and then wrapped around an object to realize optical cloaking in the visible range.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

光学迷彩を実現するためには,迷彩対象物周囲に特定の誘電率と透磁率を持つメタマテリアルを設計どおりに配置することが要求される。そのため,近赤外・可視域のような高周波帯で動作するメタマテリアルを用いて光学迷彩の実現を目指す場合,ナノスケールの金属構造体の簡易な3次元実装が必要不可欠となる。
本研究により開発された手法は,従来問題となっていた複雑な三次元構造の作製技術を省略することができる上,対象波長に比べて比較的大きい領域を透明化できる点で、他手法に比べて大きな優位性を有する。
