Outline of Research at the Start

これまで見過ごされてきたモノカルチャープランテーションの大面積化および多様な二次林の消失が、生物多様性の低下に及ぼす影響をGISによる景観構造解析と現地調査により明らかにする。また、アグロフォレストリに着目し、様々な上層木とその被陰を利用した林間作物の組み合わせについて、どのような立地条件でどのような組み合わせが適切であるのか現地調査により明らかにする。本研究の成果により、対象地域の社会・経済・環境に対する負の影響を未然に回避するための、REDD+プロジェクトにおける森林管理の新たなスタンダードが提示される。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

(1) カンボジアPreah Vihear州とKampong Cham州の林齢が異なるゴムMPにおいて林縁からの距離が異なる地点での植生調査を行い、負のコアエリアを抽出してLand Sparingの適正な規模や配置を検討した。また、インドネシア・東ジャワのチーク林調査地で乾季の植生調査を行い、林縁効果に季節変動があること、特にチーク林では林冠木の落葉による林床の光環境の改善と厚く大型のチーク葉の地表被覆により林縁効果が発現しにくくなることを明らかにした。
(2) 試験地モニタリングデータの分析により遷移過程の指標種を抽出した。また、カンボジアSiem Reap州の里山における若齢二次林試験地において、里山資源利用および林冠管理に伴う伐採と有用樹種の植栽木の成長を調査し、二次林での樹下植栽における光環境の影響を評価するとともに、二次林の間伐における選木が樹木種多様性に与える影響を評価した。
(3) インドネシアEast Java州の下層作物の作付が変更されたAFで植生のモニタリングを行い、その影響を明らかにした。またバナナの単作農地とAFで、バナナ葉の生産性、害虫被害、および雨季と乾季の鳥類相の調査を行い、乾季の鳥類相が単作農地で貧弱であることを明らかにするとともに、生物多様性と天敵サービスの面から単作農地に対するAFの優位性を評価した。
(4)これまでの成果を総合して、大規模MP、分散化MP、および分散化MP＋アグロフォレストリの３シナリオ分析により、大規模MPの制約条件に基づく森林管理オプションを提示した。また、新型コロナ感染症の影響で現地調査を断念せざるを得なかった部分については、国内の人工林における昆虫相を含めた生物多様性の評価事例および二次林の林冠管理の事例を基に、代替的に林業適地ゾーニングに対する生物多様性のギャップ分析を行い、森林管理のオプションを提示した。
