Outline of Research at the Start

海洋バイオマスをエネルギーに変換する技術の開発は,学術的・社会的要請の高い地球規模課題である。しかしマリンバイオマスにはアルギン酸などの難燃料化成分が多く,その完全変換にはさらなる技術革新が必要である。我々が見いだした新規マリンビブリオは,Hyf複合体を核とするFHL複合体を介した独特の水素代謝を示し,海藻に含まれるユニークな炭水化物群を水素化する。しかし,これらマリンビブリオ触媒の水素生成能を高める分子育種技術基盤は発展途上であり,海洋バイオ水素生産性向上のボトルネックでもある。そこで本研究課題では,マンビブリオが有する水素生成分子マシナリーの特性解明および分子育種を進展させる。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

New alternative energy production is one of the global issues toward sustainable future society. Marine bio-energy production is involved in this study area. We have studied characterization of marine hydrogen-producing vibrios using genome comparison and cellular physiological approaches.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

得られた研究成果は,マリンビブリオの主要水素生成マシナリーであるHyf複合体を精製し,構造機能相関のさらなる理解に活用し,海洋バイオ水素生成能の飛躍的な向上にフィードバックするための基盤的知見と技術の進展を進める。また,得られた知見は,二つのタイプのFHL複合体成立への道筋とComplex Iへの分子共生進化への解釈にも活用できる。
