Outline of Research at the Start

半翅系昆虫の系統関係の諸問題を，従来をはるかに上回る精度と量の形態データによって検証・解決し，吸汁式口器や特異的な交尾機構など，半翅系昆虫で見られる様々な新奇形質の進化プロセスの検討を行ことで，既知種だけでも12万種を超える本群の多様性をもたらした進化的背景を明らかにする．半翅系昆虫は完全変態昆虫の姉妹群であることから，本研究は昆虫最大の分類群である完全変態類の起源論にも大きな影響を及ぼす．さらに半翅系昆虫は，海域を含めたあらゆる環境へ進出し，極めて重要な農業害虫なども含まれるため，本研究の結果は，応用科学や環境科学への波及効果も大いに期待される．

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

これまでに集積したデータに基づき，研究のとりまとめを行った．特に，これまで系統情報の解析対象として扱われたことのなかった胸部筋肉相に基づく準新翅類の高次系統解析を終え，ゲノム系統が示唆するカジリムシ+完全変態の関係を支持する派生形質状態は一切見られない一方，旧来から形態で示唆されてきたカジリムシ+節顎類の関係を支持する派生形質が複数存在することを明らかにした．本成果は現在投稿中である．また，ドイツとの国際共同研究として，準新翅類の頭部形態の比較形態学的解析も行った．この研究は期間中には完了しなかったものの，順調に進行中であり，準新翅類の高次系統に関しても新知見がもたらされることが期待される．チャタテムシ類の化石種の形態解析もドイツ，中国との共同研究として進行中で，こちらは論文の投稿に至っている．
新奇形質の進化解析に関し，トリカヘチャタテの交尾器の機能形態学的解析を行い，論文の出版に至った．また，ムクゲカメムシの交尾器の機能形態的解析も行い，学会での口頭発表を行った．
この他，準新翅類に見られる特異な交尾器形態の進化と関連したプロジェクトとして，ヒョウモンチョウに見られるメス交尾器の凸構造を解析し，これがペニス状の機能を持たないこと，外傷性交尾への対抗進化として生じた可能性が高い構造であることを示した．
これらと関連して，準新翅類の分類学的，生物地理学的研究も行い，論文や学会発表として公表に至った．
