Outline of Research at the Start

本研究課題は,次々世代のディスプレイ技術と期待されているホログラフィック3次元ディスプレイで課題となっている,(1) ホログラム計算の高速化,(2) より簡易な光学システムの実現,(3) 高画質な再生像を得ることができるホログラム最適化技術,について研究開発を行う.
ホログラム計算の高速化については,スパース性に着目した超高速なアルゴリズムの開発を行う.そのアルゴリズムをハードウェア実装することことで,トータルで従来に比べ三桁の飛躍的な高速化を目指す.

Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this research project, we developed holographic 3D displays, which are expected to be the next generation of 3D display technology, in order to (1) speed up hologram computation, (2) realize a simpler optical system, and (3) optimize holograms to obtain high quality reproduced images. For (1), we proposed a hologram calculation using sparse point spread functions. For (2), we proposed a technique using special optical elements. For (3), we developed deep learning and binary amplitude methods.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究はホログラフィを利用した3次元ディスプレイに関する研究を行った.この方式の3次元ディスプレイは,他の方式とは異なり,人の知覚特性をすべて満たすため,自然な三次元映像を提示できる.例えば,近年,メタバースなどが注目を集めたが,このような空間を認識するためには,自然な3次元映像提示システムが必要であ理,ホログラフィは最も理にかなったものである.本研究で開発した技術は,この方式の要素技術になり得るものである.
