Outline of Research at the Start

吃音（きつおん）は人口の約1％に存在する発話流暢性の障害であり，現在まで根本的な治療法はなく，研究も遅れている．本研究では，吃音とは，運動制御能力の閾値を超えた複雑な発話運動に対応出来ない現象であり，情動の状態により閾値が変化する，という仮説のもと，実験研究を行う．発話だけでなく上肢・下肢の運動の個人差や，吃音話者の情動に着目し，脳計測や行動計測を組み合わせて多角的に調査する．もし吃音が運動制御一般の問題であり，ヒトの運動の中で最も複雑な制御の一つである発話に現れた現象であるならば，流暢性獲得のトレーニングには，運動制御全般の能力を底上げする何かしらの手法が有効かもしれない．

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

MRI装置内で発話・上肢・下肢の運動を課す実験の解析を進めてきた。一語のみを繰り返す単純な発話課題では、吃音話者は非吃音話者と比較して両側の運動野の活動が大きかった。上肢・下肢運動の結果は複雑であった。行動指標等との関連も調べる予定である。/ 以前、「話者の発声音圧は、相手から聞きたい好みの音圧や、相手が聞いているだろうと想定する音圧より7dB程度高い」ことを報告した。用いた発声は「おはよう」であり、挨拶であることが結果に影響した可能性があるため、中性の文章を話した際にも同様の結果が得られるかを調べた。「今日は〇〇年〇月〇日です」と自然に発話する際の、発声音圧と、聞き手が聞いているだろうと思われる音圧（参加者自身が調整）を計測した。また、聞き手として聞きたい音圧に合わせた。結果は「今日は…」を用いた際も、8-9dB程度発声音声が高いという結果が出た。従ってこの現象は発話の長さに依存しないことがうかがわれる。一方、声を出さずに手元の小型スピーカーを用いて、参加者の録音音声および帯域雑音を用いて同様の実験を行ったところ、差は0-1dB程度と小さかった。従って、8-9dB程度の不正確さは発声することにより生じていることが分かった。吃音話者でも数名程度計測したが、現時点では結果のばらつきが大きかった。/ 吃音話者は話す際、数秒後の吃音の出現を予測できることが知られている。この現象についてfMRI実験を進め、20名程度からのデータを得た。現在までの解析では、吃音予測が少ない文章を読む際は、予測が多い文章を読む際に比べて左半球の聴覚-言語領域がより活動していた。一方、予測が多い文章では左半球のブローカ野とは対側半球の右下前頭回の三角部が活動していた。/ その他、遅延聴覚フィードバックの効果の強度と、発話前後に提示した純音に対する聴覚誘発反応の関係を調べる脳波計測実験を進めた。
