Outline of Research at the Start

水産学の目標の一つは，海洋の生物多様性の保全を通して，水産資源の持続的な利用に貢献することである。日本はイカ消費大国であり，特にアオリイカは「イカの王様」として愛されている。本研究では，アオリイカ属2種間に働く生殖隔離メカニズムを解明すべく，行動，形態，生理，遺伝学を用いて繁殖生態を総合的に調べる。その結果から，海洋における生物多様性の形成機構を考察する。さらに，本研究がアオリイカ資源保全へ与える貢献は多大である。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究課題では，行動観察や遺伝学的アプローチをもちいて同所的に生息するアオリイカ属3種の生殖隔離の実体を明らかにする事を目的とした。野外調査や水族館における飼育行動観察など、研究所外での研究活動を主としている本課題は、今年度も引き続きコロナウィルス感染拡大に伴う大幅な活動制限が生じた。特にアオリイカの繁殖期での研究活動が強く制限されたにより、予定していた研究活動がほとんど行えないという非常に困難な状況であった。そこで、内容・方法や調査地を一部変更し、研究計画の見直しを行った。具体的には、自身が直接調査地にいけないことから、地元漁業者等とのネットワーク形成に務め、漁獲物の解剖・分析から得られる繁殖特性のデータ収集を行った。さらにアオリイカ属に応用するために同属のヤリイカを用い、人工授精や受精卵の発生を進める条件を検討した。これにより、人工授精方法においては十分に高い受精率が得られ、また培地の工夫などによりin vitroで正常な胚発生を進めることに成功した。この成果を用い、2021年度はアオリイカにて人工授精試験を試みた。
