Outline of Research at the Start

元素周期表は科学の一つの基本的な情報の一つであり、縦の列(族)に同じ性質が並ぶように作られている。この周期性は、価電子の電子配置が同一であることに起因する。現在、新しく超重元素が人工的に合成されているが、これらの化学的性質は広く知られていないため、単に原子番号の順番に並べているだけである。一方、これらの領域では相対論的効果により化学的性質が変わる可能性がある。
本研究では超重元素の化学的性質を研究し、「正しい」元素周期表を構築する。
また、本手法で開発した相対論的密度汎関数理論を、固体や分子、原子核などの広範な量子多体問題へ応用し、これらの系の精密測定を用いた素粒子物理などの基礎物理も展開をする。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

昨年度の研究において, 球対称性を仮定した原子の計算に関する正当性を確認した. 当該論文は, 改訂を経て本年度出版された. この結果に基づき, 本来の研究目的である「元素周期表の予言」を達成するため, 原子の計算コードを開発した. 既存の原子の計算コードでは, 原子核が作るポテンシャルは, 原子核が点電荷であると仮定して構築されているが, 本研究での目的である超重元素の電子状態では, 原子核が有限の電荷密度分布を保つ効果や, クーロン場により生じる真空偏極が無視できない. そのため, これらの効果を考慮した原子の電子状態計算コードを開発した. ミュオン原子や原子核のミュオン捕獲に関する研究者との共同研究も開始しているため, 当該コードでは, ミュオン等の計算も可能となるように開発してある. 当該コードの開発は完了し, 現在, 実際に元素周期表の予言に向けた電子状態の計算を行っているところである.
また, 関連研究である, 汎関数くりこみ群を用いたエネルギー密度汎関数の構築研究では, 本年はスピン依存性を導入した. 相関エネルギーのスピン依存性は, 今まで詳しくは知られておらず, 主に交換エネルギーのスピン依存性をそのまま適用して計算が行われていた. 本研究により, 相関エネルギーのスピン依存性より詳しく理解できたため, この結果を用いて原子や分子, 固体の密度汎関数計算を行っていく予定である.
また, 一昨年度までの研究で検討を重ねていた, 物性物理における密度汎関数理論の知見の原子核物理への応用については, 一昨年度までの段階で, 原子核密度汎関数計算におけるクーロン力の精度向上が完了したため, その結果を用いて, 核力に由来するアイソスピン対称性の破れの原子核構造への寄与についての検討を行い, その結果によって得られた知見により, 核力の荷電非対称項の強度の第一原理的な決定手法も提案した.
