Outline of Research at the Start

有機レドックスポリマーの高速な電荷交換反応に基づく電荷輸送・貯蔵能を起点に、水素(プロトン)交換反応への拡張によって同じ原理で水素が輸送・貯蔵されることを明らかにする。具体的には、 (1) 水素(プロトン)交換反応の解明と(2) 高い質量密度で水素貯蔵可能な有機レドックスポリマーの創出により水素の輸送・貯蔵が可能な分子・ポリマーを開拓する。分子設計・水素発生条件などの工夫から(3) 高速な水素輸送を可能とする分子要件を解明、最大限に引き出すことで、(4) 斬新な水素輸送・貯蔵材料の創出へと繋げ、基礎化学の確立とエネルギー輸送・貯蔵材料への展開を狙う。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

1. 高密度水素貯蔵を可能とする有機レドックスポリマーの創出
令和二年度では、高い質量水素密度を目指し、水素貯蔵を担うレドックス部位を窒素複素環式化合物に拡張し、キノキサリン置換高分子のゲルによる水素貯蔵を達成した(ACS Appl. Polym. Mater. 2020、Polym. Adv. Tech. 2021)。さらに、アルコール類についても発展し、2-プロパノール置換高分子の簡便合成とゲルによる水素貯蔵も達成した(Polym. J. 2021)。素早い脱水素反応を可能とする触媒について、京大・藤田らと共同し、最適化、ポリマーシートでの可逆な水素化、発生を初めて明らかにした(Eur. J. Org. Chem. 2020)。さらに、同ポリマーシートを用いて、山梨大とともに水素ボンベ不要のコンパクトな燃料電池を世界に先駆けて報告した(Commun. Chem. 2020)。
1. 有機レドックスポリマーでの高速な水素交換反応の解明とデバイスへの展開
プロトン関与の酸化還元能をもつキノン類に着目し、高密度に置換した高分子を新合成し、電気化学測定から高分子凝縮相での高速な水素(プロトン)授受反応を初めて明らかにした。典・Uppsala大での研究で、高分子での酸化還元に伴うプロトン移動を電荷輸送能と共役した過程とする解釈を得た(ChemSusChem 2020)。水素授受反応を最大限に活用し、 電極活物質として、高い出力・耐久性・環境適合性をもつ有機-空気(ChemSusChem 2020、ACS Appl. Energy Mater. 2020)や有機-マンガン二次電池(ChemElectroChem 2020)に展開している。
