Outline of Research at the Start

To remove both forms of arsenic from groundwater, we will develop an adsorbent by inserting oxidizer into the structure of our gel DMAPAAQ+FeOOH. Also, we will integrate the adsorbent to the natural water sources. Lastly, we will ensure the social implementation of our newly developed adsorbent.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Using a cationic adsorbent, I was able to remove an anion and a cation at the same time in my research. I used a cationic polymer gel to remove arsenic (both arsenate and arsenite) and manganese at the same time utilizing adsorption. When I started this endeavor, my research goal was to remove only arsenic. However, after successfully removing the two most common forms of arsenic in the environment, arsenate and arsenite, I went on to conduct studies utilizing cationic polymer adsorbent to remove manganese. I investigated the removal of cadmium using the same adsorbent after simultaneous removal of arsenate, arsenite, and manganese. Cadmium was also successfully removed. This breakthrough of removing anion and cation concurrently with a single adsorbent is groundbreaking because it has never been done before.
