Outline of Research at the Start |
The photocatalytic reduction of CO2 into value-added hydrocarbons (ex. CH3OH and CH4) by sunlight is an environmentally-friendly and sustainable route to relieve environmental and energy issues.
|
Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In this year, we continuously focused on the synthesis of various ionic metal sulfide nanocrystal (NC) heterostructures as the potential photocatalysts for CO2 reduction. The NC heterostructures integrated with tunable compositions were synthesized by a special waning and waxing morphological evolution process in cation exchange (CE) reaction. This fine-tuning of the composition and structure in plate-shaped NCs enables a wide-range adjustment of the band positions and band alignments of different phases in the hybrid heterostructures and thus allows us to an accurately control the formation of intermediates and products in the photocatalytic CO2 reduction.
