本研究では、人形浄瑠璃の実演者および実務経験者に対する聞き取り調査をおこない、その結果を基にして伝承あるいは実演がどのようになされているかを明らかにする。聞き取り対象者の言葉のうちに伝承のあり方を見いだす探索的な方法である。調査・研究は、他のジャンルの研究者とも連携しておこなう。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study is to clarify the issue of transmission in ningyo joruri (puppet theater) through a variety of approaches. The principal investigator and his/her co-principal investigator conducted surveys and research activities on their own and in cooperation with others. Major surveys included interviews with performers of ningyo joruri and those with practical experience, as well as surveys of actual performances of ningyo joruri and other venues. Quantitative surveys based on experiments were also conducted. These surveys and studies have been published as academic papers, conference presentations, and book chapters.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究の成果は次の通りである。①聞き取り調査に基づいて学術論文を発表し、人形浄瑠璃における伝承や上演の一端を明らかにした。②新聞記事などの資料を調査して学術論文を発表し、近代における人形浄瑠璃の上演の一端を明らかにした。③近代における他ジャンルの芸能の上演実態を調査し、その一端を明らかにした。④実験に基づく定量的研究をおこない、文楽人形の演技における浄瑠璃の効果を明らかにした。以上のことにより、人形浄瑠璃のあり方を考える上で重要な知見が社会に共有された。
