本研究は，公的な場で，情報や考えを他人に伝えるパブリックスピーキングにおいて，いかに他人を納得させるか，すなわち「説得」がどのようなプロセスで実現するのかについての統合的な分析を行うものである。パブリックスピーキングでは，単に内容のあるスピーチをしたからよいわけではなく，伝えたい内容そのもの，伝え方の言語的ストラテジー，さらに非言語面行動がそろって「説得」が成功する。本研究は，この全体像を明らかにしようとした研究である。
具体的には，日本語のパブリックスピーキングの音声と動画を，アノテーションツールであるELANを用いて分析を行い，さらに実験的手法を用いて検証を行ったうえで，モデル化を試みる。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study is to clarify, based on a multimodal analysis, what "persuasion" is in public speaking.
In this study, we extracted items for multimodal analysis of "persuasion" in public speaking, including the content of speech as well as nonverbal behavior, and examined analysis methods. We also surveyed Japanese language teachers in Japan and abroad on public speaking instruction, and found that there were no established the contents of teaching or assessment methods for non-verbal behavior in particular, and their views varied. In addition, we changed our plans because of the pandemic and analyzed the differences in the characteristics of "persuasion" between the face-to-face and online situations of public speaking, revealing that public speaking in an online situation is not an alternative to the face-to-face situation, and that each method of persuasion may be different.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
パブリックスピーキングにおける「説得」の要素について、言語面での特徴に加え、非言語行動も含めた観点で検討したことは、大きい意義があると思われる。また対面状況とオンライン状況におけるパブリックスピーキングを比較したところ、オンラインによるパブリックスピーキングは、対面状況でのパブリックスピーキングの代替物であるとは言えない可能性も明らかになった。これについては、まだ十分に検証するところまでは到達していないが、ポストコロナ時代のコミュニケーションを考えるためのきっかけとなると思われる。
