Outline of Research at the Start |
This project seeks to: (1) provide insights into the current state of primary school English education in the country based on a sampling from Kyoto; (2) provide relevant data to guide Japanese universities and the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) on future policy decisions regarding English education; and (3) contribute to improving the English teaching skills of primary school teachers in Japan.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the final year of the "Towards the Development of a Critical Learning Support System for Primary School Teachers of English" project, the researchers concluded data analysis, engaged in a discussion of the results, and disseminated the findings at two academic societies. Specifically, presentations on the findings of this project were conducted at the British Association of Applied Linguistics' (BAAL) 56th Annual Conference held at York University, England, and also at the 13th International and Interdisciplinary Conference on Applied Linguistics and Professional Practice (ALAPP) at Glasgow, Scotland. Finally, a paper that summarizes the significance and relevance of this project has been written and is being peer-reviewed for publication with a journal that specializes in publishing papers related to foreign language education.
