Outline of Research at the Start	Focusing on the epistolary correspondence of Stanislas Julien and Leon de Rosny, this research will uncover the different routes used by European scholars to collect and publish East Asian texts during the 19th century in order to understand the complex interactions these scholars had with East Asia.
Outline of Annual Research Achievements	In 2022, I continued writing my manuscript about Stanislas Julien's epistolary network, tentatively titled "Stanislas Julien and his Chinese correspondents". The manuscript includes a transliteration and analysis of the letters sent to China the years 1835 and 1836. The letters are from a manuscript document held in Lille Library. Letters written in stenography style will provides many insights on how Stanislas Julien acquired Chinese books via the missionaries in China.I also continued to update the reference list of all letters sent by Stanislas Julien during his life. It now includes more than 190 letters. I am currently finishing a manuscript that will include a transliteration of these letters.
Current Status of Research Progress	Current Status of Research Progress 4: Progress in research has been delayed. Reason My research is significantly delayed because of Covid-19 as I was not able to conduct research work outside Japan from 2019 to 2022.
Strategy for Future Research Activity	This is my final year of research. I am currently preparing two manuscripts related to this project that will be completed by the end of 2023. A website is also under construction to make public the dozens of letters acquired during the past 4 years. Hopefully, it will also be online by the end of 2023.
