| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は，14世紀初頭から中葉にあたる元代の中～後期，江南の中心に位置し，産業の多様化が急速に進んだ両浙地域において，経済的な実力を蓄えるようになった新興商人の実像を探ることにより，モンゴル政権下の中国江南社会経済の動態を解明しようとするものである。そして最終的には，宋代から明清代にかけての江南地域の質的連続性や，元代江南社会の特質とそのユーラシア世界史上の意義を考えることを目標としている。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this research, I reviewed the socio-economic dynamics of Jiangnan江南 under the Mongol regime by focusing on the cotton industry and the maritime transport in Liangzhe両浙regions during the middle to late Yuan元 Dynasty. As for the cotton industry, the development of the Yangtze River長江 Delta region was examined from various angles. On the other hand, with regard to maritime transport, I explored the specifics of regional elites, including shipping agent船戸 who was in charge of shipping and emerging merchants, we were able to divide the development process of the shipping management system into five periods, and were able to show the characteristics of each.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
モンゴル元代の海運についてその歴史的評価を示すことができた。中国史の枠組みのもとでは，南北中国を経済的に一体化させる新たな選択肢であると同時に，内陸水運や塩政ともリンクしつつ財政を支える物流ネットワークの主要幹線としての側面を持っていた。視野をユーラシア規模に拡大してみると，モンゴルの海洋政策のもとで南海貿易と接続していた江南地域を，さらに北方の大都へと接続する役割を果たしたと評価できる。この海運事業において重要な役割を果たしたのが，元代中後期の両浙地域における新興の船戸や商人であった。
