| Outline of Research at the Start |
山形県鶴岡市の出羽三山のひとつである羽黒山の麓には手向の門前町が存在する。この門前町には、江戸時代は３００を超える宿坊が存在していたが、いまでは３０軒以下に減少している。伝統的な建築の宿坊が連なる町並みや羽黒山の宗教者および参詣者を支えてきた多様な生業は、近代化によって失われつつある。本調査研究は、その文化財的価値を多様な視点から解明し、将来への保存および再活性化の基礎となるものである。

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
コロナ禍もあって、当初に予定したフィールドワークが十分に実施できなかった部分もあったが、研究成果の概要に記した課題について、一定の成果をあげることができた。今後は代表者および分担者が、それぞれの課題について、論文や著書として成文化することによって、研究成果を社会に還元することを目標としたい。
