| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は、紛争中に対立していた人々の間の信頼醸成にビジネスが果たし得る役割を明らかにし、ビジネスの平和構築への貢献を理論化し、平和構築の実践に貢献することを目的とする。これまでの研究から、（1）ビジネスは社会的・経済的権利実現の手段として有効であり、主体性を求められるビジネスへの従事はエンパワーメントに繋がること、（2）取引相手との共通利益の特定と協働が、特に分断社会で対立する集団間において成立する場合には、平和構築に強い効果を持つこと、が検証されている。本研究ではそのような効果について「信頼」の概念を用いて分析し、平和構築の文脈における信頼醸成のメカニズムの解明を試みる。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study investigated the role of business in the peacebuilding context focusing on trust-building. The experiences of violent conflict increase the distrust towards others. Businesses have the effect of empowerment because people recover from stress caused by conflict and increase their ability to control their own lives. Furthermore, the foundation for trust is reinforced through coordinating and communicating with a former adversarial group(s). Such theoretical understanding has been confirmed through case studies in this research.

本研究は、学術的には平和のためのビジネス（Business for Peace; B4P）研究に信頼という新たな視点を提供し、理論化に貢献するとともに、実証研究の成果を提供することで、どのような文脈でどのようなB4Pの効果が見られるかという知見の蓄積に資する。社会的には、企業がどのように平和に貢献し得るのかを明らかにすることで、企業の平和への取組みを促進することが期待されるとともに、平和構築の援助においても民間部門との協働の可能性を提示する。
