本研究ではタクシー産業とプラットフォーム・ビジネスの代表モデルとされるライドシェアの関係を事例に、日本、米国、中国の3カ国を対象に比較検討を通じて、プラットフォーム・ビジネスがもたらす労働者の働き方の変化を、雇用制度に関する理論の再検討とデータ分析によって抽出することを目指す。また、プラットフォーム・ビジネスの萌芽と普及過程におけるジェンダーインパクトと新しい働き方におけるジェンダー化のあり様を検討する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Internationally, it has become evident that the initial disruption caused by ride-sharing in the taxi industry has resulted in a process of mutual transformation and coexistence between the two sectors. Meanwhile, in Japan, where direct entry of ride-sharing was avoided, the employment status of taxi drivers as employees contributed to the avoidance of ride-sharing, but the diversity within the industry has become evident.Moreover, we have discovered that the extent to which each taxi company has accepted the threat of ride-sharing entry and implemented new services varies depending on their financial strength and the regional characteristics of their operating areas. This heterogeneity in regional responses is also closely related to the deregulation of the taxi industry ,the aging population's influence, and the employment status of taxi drivers, all of which had been progressing before the threat of ride-sharing entry.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
第一に日本においてUberと対峙したのはインディペンデント・コントラクターに担われているタクシーではなく雇用労働者である運転手によって担われる法人タクシーである。よって本研究での事例は、ライドシェアが間接的ではあれ雇用制度と競合した場合に後者にどのような影響をもたらすのかを探究する上で貴重な論点を示している。第二に実証研究が極めて少ない日本のタクシー運転手の働き方について、雇用労働者性を軸にその多様性にまで立ち入って明らかにしている。第三に元来この多様性の内に存在していた「雇用労働者と個人自営業者との中間的な層」が抱えるネガティブな側面が一連の過程で顕在化していることを明示した。
