本研究課題の核心をなす学術的「問い」とは，企業経営の国際化に伴う調達活動の現地化を量的・質的に規定する決定的な要因とは何なのかという点である。本研究では，ASEAN市場における日独自動車部品のメガサプライヤーを分析対象として両国企業の現地調達のあり方を比較し，その上でわが国メガサプライヤーをはじめとする自動車関連製造企業の高コスト体質是正の方策を提言する。そのためには，国際調達局面における品質とコストの新しい均衡点を探索することが極めて重要になる。本研究の最大の学術的独自性とは，国際調達における現調率の概念を分解し，より精密な分析を進めるのに適した類型を導入することにある。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The initial objective of this study was to identify procurement strategy issues at overseas subsidiaries that could contribute to correcting the high cost structure of overseas operations of Japanese automobile-related manufacturing firms. The analysis was focused on four Japanese-German mega-suppliers of auto parts in the ASEAN market. Unfortunately, the entire research period was affected by the Corona disaster, which forced a change of course in the original objective. As a result, we were able to broaden our perspective beyond the procurement function of the Japanese-German mega-suppliers in their overseas expansion by combining a literature review with one of the few company surveys available, and we gained some insight into the logic behind the development of each company's function. The discovery was that the overseas expansion of the four Japanese-German companies in the ASEAN countries is a projection of the composition ratio of each company's priority markets (countries).

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究の意義は，世界規模で競争力を誇る独メガ・サプライヤーといえども，当該市場での競争に劣後する場合は進出国の数や各拠点の機能配置面で必ずしも他国企業を圧倒するわけではないことを明らかにした点である。日独主要4社のASEAN諸国での海外展開のあり方は，各社の重点（国）市場の構成比率を投影している。すなわち，世界に冠たるメガ・サプライヤーといえどもグローバル市場のいずれにおいても万能選手ではなく，そのルーツとなる市場を中心とした事業展開地域の偏りがまだ濃厚に残っているのである。このことは，当該企業の国際分業や機能展開の基本的性格であり，実証研究を進める際の一定の前提条件を提供したことになる。
