Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements

Historical changes in travel-based multitasking were analysed using 2001-2016 data from the Survey on Time Use and Leisure Activities and 1983-2019 data from a literature review and video content analysis. The proportions of activities performed while travelling and their historical changes were statistically analysed. Other topics investigated in this project include: willingness-to-pay for improvements in the on-board environment, acceptability of autonomous vehicles that make travel-based multitasking easier, development of a model that endogenously identifies the start- and end-points of structural changes, and so on. Perspectives from the spread of COVID-19 are included in the analysis.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
