| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は、グローバル社会・多言語多文化社会に対応する日本の国語教育の再構築を目指す。外国人子弟や海外からの労働者の増加などによる多言語・多文化状況はますます広がっていく。そこで現在の日本で生じている多言語・多文化に関する国語教育の問題点を明らかにするとともに、多言語・多文化状況下の諸外国からも学び、今後の国語教育のあり方を展望する必要がある。そこでJICAによって日本の国語教育が輸出（国語科教科書・指導書・教員養成プログラムの改革）されているミャンマーでの海外展開事例を分析することで、多言語・多文化状況下において日本の国語教育はどこまでが有効であり、どこに課題があるのかを具体的に考察する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study is basic research aimed at developing a model class for Japanese language instruction where native and non-native speakers learn together. It is based on a survey of the actual situation of non-native speakers in Japanese language classes, a survey of Japanese language classes taught with native speakers, and an examination of cases where Japanese language education know-how has been applied in Myanmar, a multilingual and multicultural country. The results of this research are as follows:
1. Basic data on how language education is conducted in multilingual and multicultural societies in other countries were collected. 2. Careful analysis of old and new textbooks from Myanmar revealed the challenges faced by Japanese-supported Japanese language classes. 3. A model for non-native speakers in Japanese language classrooms was developed. 4. The difficulties faced by non-native speakers in Japanese language classrooms were clarified through the survey.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
多言語・多文化状況下の国語教育は日本でも重要なテーマになりつつある。ヨーロッパでは近年の複言語主義や、アメリカでも多言語・多文化状況を踏まえた言語教育研究が進みつつあるが、日本では日本語という単一言語の社会を前提に国語教育が構築されており、この点に大きな問題があった。本研究の最終的なねらいは、日本語母語話者と非母語話者が共に学ぶ国語教育の理論および指導方法を具体的に開発することを目的とするものである。非母語話者への支援だけでなく、日本語母語話者の児童生徒に対しても意味のある新しい視野に立った国語教育の理論と実践の開発を目指す点に本研究の学術的独自性や、社会的な意義がある。
