Outline of Research at the Start

H.J.BrascampとE.H.Liebが1976年に打ち出した不等式により、対数凹性はユークリッド空間の熱流に対する最適な凹性とみなされ、長年の間、熱流の大域解析の軸となっていた。しかし申請者は東京大学の石毛和弘氏とフィレンツェ大学のPaolo Salani氏との共著にて、ユークリッド空間の熱流が保つ凹性の中で最も強い凹性が対数凹性ではないことを証明し、さらに最強の凹性が何であるかを決定した。
申請者は確率測度のなす空間上の相異なる幾何であるWasserstein幾何と情報幾何の既存の理論を、この最強の凹性を用いて同時に一般化し、そして両幾何を融合して新概念を導出をすることを目指す。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

北川潤氏(ミシガン州立大学)との共同研究を進め、(p,q)-Monge--Kantorovich 距離関数に関する二編のプレプリントを著した。
p-Monge--Kantorovich 距離関数(p-Wasserstein 距離関数とも呼ばれる)は、完備可分な距離空間上のp次モーメントが有限な確率測度のなす空間上の距離関数であり、変分問題を介して定義される。近年、Monge--Kantorovich 距離関数は応用分野で活発に適用されているが、計算コストの高さが問題となる。そこで計算コストを減らすために、ユークリッド空間上のp次モーメントが有限な確率測度のなす空間に p-sliced Wasserstein 距離関数や max--sliced Wasserstein 距離関数が導入された。これは射影と球面上の積分(より正確にはラドン変換)を介して定義される。また、実用上は球面上の積分ではなく、球面の有限個の代表点による近似値が扱われる。北川氏との共同研究ではsliced Wasserstein 距離関数含む距離関数の族である(p,q)-Monge--Kantorovich 距離関数を定義した。そして1つのプレプリントでは、p次モーメントが有限なユークリッド空間上の2つの確率測度に対し、有限個の代表点による近似値が(p,q)-Monge--Kantorovich 距離に収束することを示し、その収束率を評価した。また、他のプレプリントでは、(p,q)-Monge--Kantorovich 距離関数の幾何構造を調べ、とくに測地性が失われることを示した。そして測地性を回復するために測地空間への埋め込み写像を構成した。
また、昨年に引き続き、熱流に関する幾何解析、とくに形状保存則に関する解析を石毛和弘氏(東京大学)とPaolo Salani 氏(フィレンツェ大学)とともに進めた。

Reason

(p,q)-Monge--Kantorovich 距離関数という確率測度空間上の新しい幾何構造を導いたことにより、リッチ曲率の新しい特業づけが得られることが期待できる。一方で、エントロピーとの関連性は不明であり、滞っている面がある。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

研究実績の概要で述べたように、(p,q)-Monge--Kantorovich 距離関数という確率測度空間上の新しい距離関数を定義した。今後はこの距離関数の幾何構造を解析し、この距離関数に対するエントロピーの凸性とリッチ曲率の関係を考察する。具体的には、エントロピーの勾配流の振る舞いを、リッチ曲率を用いて描写することを目指す。
