Outline of Research at the Start

重力崩壊型の超新星爆発は、大質量星がその進化の最期に引き起こす、宇宙で最も大きな爆発現象の1つである。しかしながら、その爆発メカニズムは未だによくわかっていない。超新星爆発に重要な役割を果たすと考えられているがニュートリノであるが、従来のニュートリノの輸送理論では、素粒子の基本的性質であるカイラリティが無視されているという問題点がある。本研究では、ニュートリノのカイラリティを考慮した輸送理論「ニュートリノのカイラル輻射流体力学」を構築し、超新星への応用を目指す。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

これまでの研究において、我々は素粒子の標準理論に基づいて、ニュートリノの最も基本的な性質であるカイラリティを考慮した「ニュートリノのカイラル輻射輸送理論」を構築した。また、この理論をニュートリノが平衡に十分近い超新星コアの領域で解くことで、磁場に比例するニュートリノのエネルギー流や電流を導出し、超新星の局所的な磁気流体力学の数値シミュレーションを行ってきた。
2023年度の研究では、超新星コアの外側の領域(ゲイン領域)について、非平衡ニュートリノのカイラル効果を取り入れた磁気流体力学の数値シミュレーションを実行した。このシミュレーションでも、これまでに見出したカイラルプラズマ不安定性という新しいタイプのプラズマ不安定性が発現することによって、マグネター(宇宙最強磁場をもつ中性子星)級の磁場増幅が起こることを確認した。本研究成果については、これから論文にまとめる予定である。
また、既に構築した「ニュートリノのカイラル輻射輸送理論」に対して、ニュートリノの自己エネルギーやその時空変化に伴う量子力学的な補正の効果を取り入れた理論を構成した。この理論的改良によって、物質の温度勾配や密度勾配の存在下で、それと垂直方向にニュートリノのカレントやエネルギー流が生じるという新奇な輸送現象「ニュートリノのスピンホール効果」を明らかにした。
さらに、上記のカイラルプラズマ不安定性のような現象が超新星の物理に特有のものではなく、物性物理から初期宇宙で発現すると考えられている様々な(あるクラスの)不安定性が、カイラルプラズマ不安定性の一般化として理解できることを示した。特に、この一般化カイラル不安定性の結果生じる場の配位が絡み目構造をもつこと、そして、そのような絡み目数を含む保存則を、近年見出された新しいタイプの対称性である「非可逆対称性」を使って特徴づけることに成功した。

Reason

まだ論文にはなっていないものの、当初の予定通り、超新星のゲイン領域においても、非平衡ニュートリノのカイラル効果を取り入れた磁気流体力学の数値シミュレーションの結果を出すことができた。また、「ニュートリノのカイラル輻射輸送理論」についても、ニュートリノの自己エネルギーやその時空変化に伴う量子力学的な補正の効果を取り入れるという理論的拡張の方向性で研究成果を出している。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

まずは現在進めているゲイン領域での局所的なカイラル磁気流体シミュレーションの結果について、様々なパラメータ設定での解析結果から考察を進め、論文にまとめる予定である。この研究成果をもとに、超新星の大域的なカイラル磁気流体シミュレーションを行うことが今後の大きな目標である。また、非平衡ニュートリノから誘起されるカイラルプラズマ不安定性によって、偏光した重力波(カイラル重力波)が放出されるという新しいメカニズムを現在調べており、カイラル重力波の将来的な観測に向けた理論的予言を与えることを目指している。
