Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、三次元造形(積層造形)を応用したジルコニア作製に最適な条件を解明し、それを基にジルコニア製インプラントを試作する。その後、ジルコニアインプラント体の表面形状が骨形成に与える影響といった生体適合性を評価することで、今まで全く明らかとなっていない積層造形によるジルコニアインプラントの性能について多角的な指標を用いて評価することを目指す。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this project, we investigated the basic properties and osteoblast response of additively manufactured zirconia. Regarding the mechanical properties, additively manufactured zirconia presented comparable biaxial flexural strength to subtractively manufactured zirconia. Moreover, additively manufactured zirconia showed comparable cell viability and Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) activity to titanium. In summary, additively manufactured zirconia is a promising material for dental implants.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

歯科において、ジルコニアは切削加工にて製作される場合がほとんどであり、積層造形を歯科用ジルコニアインプラント製作に応用するための体系的な研究はほとんどなされていなかった。そのため、本研究にて得られた積層造形ジルコニアの基本的物性や生体適合性に関する情報は高い独自性を有し、有意義な情報となる。また、ジルコニアの積層造形法をジルコニア製補綴装置製作に応用すれば、一度に同時に大量の補綴装置を製作することが可能となるため、省力化につながり、歯科治療における医療経済的なメリットも大きい可能性がある。さらには、整形外科領域のジルコニア性人工関節への応用といった、医科他領域への波及効果を見込むことが出来る。
