| Outline of Research at the Start |
口腔ケアによる摂食・嚥下機能の維持・改善は、肺炎の発症予防だけでなく、栄養状態の改善、疾病の回復促進などの効果が確認されている。しかし、口腔機能の診断や介入の方法については未だ確立されていない。そこで、口腔機能低下症の診断において、看護師・介護福祉士・歯科医師・歯科衛生士の多職種連携が可能かを検討する。さらに多職種連携による口腔機能改善プログラムの作成とその介入における効果について検証することを目指す。このプログラムが効果的に実施されることにより、口腔機能低下症を改善し、高齢者の口腔疾患・肺炎予防、フレイル・サルコペニアの予防、QOLの向上、健康寿命の延伸などに繋がることが期待できる。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study aimed to examine current nursing practices for the early detection of oral hypofunction and the promotion of oral function in patients as well as to identify related challenges. Compared with dental professionals, nurses demonstrated significantly lower awareness of their roles in specific aspects of oral care, such as flossing and use of interdental brushes, oral assessments, and oral function training. Nurses’awareness of oral frailty and oral hypofunction was approximately 50%, with similarly low rates of oral function assessments and care implementation. Furthermore, the findings indicate that variations in these implementation rates may be influenced by hospital functions, collaboration with dental professionals, and reimbursement systems. Achieving these improvements will require widespread dissemination of knowledge about oral and systemic health, along with enhanced reimbursement incentives.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
近年、全身の衰えに先行して起こる口腔の衰え（オーラルフレイル）への対応が重要視されている。しかし、これまでオーラルフレイルに着目した看護師のアセスメントおよびケアの実態は明らかにされていなかった。
本研究では、病院勤務の看護師のオーラルフレイルに関する知識およびアセスメントやケアの実施率には課題があり、実施率は病院の機能、歯科連携および診療報酬の影響を受けていることを明らかにした。入院患者は、疾患や治療、活動低下の影響により口腔の衰えが生じやすい状況があるため、本研究の成果は、疾患や入院目的に関わらず、全入院患者の全身の健康に向けた医療、看護を目指す観点から学術的・社会的意義があると言える。
