Outline of Research at the Start

慢性腎臓病(CKD)は患者数1,330万人に及ぶ国民病であり、心血管疾患発症リスクが高いことが知られている。CKDにおける血管機能障害には、血漿中のアルブミン還元型比率の低下が関与している可能性も示唆されている。そこで本研究では、CKDモデルラットの飼料に添加するタンパク質の量と質が、血漿アルブミン酸化還元動態および血管機能に及ぼす影響を検討し、その成果をCKD患者の食事療法に応用することを目標とする。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

In protein restriction therapy for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), standards for dietary protein intake have been proposed, but there appear to be few studies on the quality of dietary protein. In this study, we found that CKD rats fed a low-protein diet with different protein sources showed differential plasma oxidized albumin ratios. In the future, it may be possible to suggest an effective dietary therapy that attenuates the elevated oxidized albumin ratio.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

患者数1,330万人に及ぶ慢性腎臓病(CKD)の患者は、重症化とともに心血管疾患合併症の発症リスクが高く、その発症はCKD患者における死亡原因の第1位である。病態の重症化や合併症の発症に対し、血漿タンパク質の1つであるアルブミン分子の酸化修飾が影響を及ぼす可能性がこれまでに報告されていた。本研究成果は、このアルブミンの酸化を食事療法によって軽減できる可能性を示唆する重要な研究である。
