英語教育においても、インターネットを介した共時的コミュニケーションという学習形態の普及が著しい。本研究では、ビデオ通話を活用した英語教材を用いた指導を、原稿を準備するグループと準備しないグループに分けて、2ヶ月にわたり実施する。指導前後の効果を比較検証し、方法の違いがスピーキングの力とその不安に及ぼす影響を、以下の観点から明らかにする。
①原稿を準備する方法と準備しない方法の違いがスピーキング力に及ぼす影響を検証する。
②スピーキングに対する不安があるとしたら、準備型と即興型の方法による不安の変化に事違いがあるかを検証する。
③スピーキング力の変化とその不安の変化に関連があるかを検証する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In the midst of the growing demand for impromptu English communication and the use of ICT in schools, there is an urgent need to effectively use ICT to develop impromptu English speaking skills. In this study, we compared and verified the use of improvisational and preparatory methods using video calls. As a result, we found that not only learners who are good at English but also learners who are not good at English can get used to improvised speech, reduce speaking anxiety and improve their speaking ability by repeatedly challenging them to participate in video calls with participants from overseas. The results suggest that it is desirable to incorporate one-on-one videocalls. The results of our research have been published in papers and at international conferences.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
学術的意義として、特に以下3点が挙げられる。(1) 1対1のビデオ通話を活用することで、即興的に英語でやり取りするきっかけになり、英語に苦手意識を持っている学習者でも実践が可能であることが明らかになったこと。(2) 原稿を準備してから英語でやり取りする方法よりも、1対1のビデオ通話の指導形態で即興的にやり取りすることを繰り返すことで、不安の軽減やスピーキング力の向上を促進することが明らかになったこと。(3) 一斉指導の指導形態においても、ビデオ通話を活用することで、海外の教室と日本の教室を繋げて即興的にやり取りを経験させることで、スピーキング力と学習意欲の推移に与える影響が明らかになったこと。
