Outline of Research at the Start

Over three years, this project will create and conduct reaction time experiments to investigate in what ways auditory, in addition to visual, input while learning and reviewing foreign language vocabulary benefits students' explicit and implicit knowledge of these words' forms.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Regarding the primary data collection, problems were found with the data collection tool that have required considerable time to remedy. In the previous months I have been able to work on this and fix most of the problems, consulting with experts along the way. Furthermore, the publication that was in review has required further revision and is now back in review with a different international journal, awaiting decision.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

4: Progress in research has been delayed.

Reason

Initial data collection revealed some problems with the data collection instrument (the reaction time measurements, specifically) that needed to be fixed before more data could be collected.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

With most of the problems with data collection addressed, I should be able to begin data collection in the next few months. I will begin with local data collection at my primary university only until I can confirm that the data is being collected properly, before expanding the data collection to other sites. The data collection should be completed in the next school year, with analysis and manuscript preparation beginning shortly after.
