| Outline of Research at the Start |
摂関政治と院政についてはその連続性がたびたび指摘されるが、両分野の研究状況の違いから、このことは院政期研究の立場から論じられることが多かった。しかし近年摂関期研究は大きく進展し、摂関政治と院政の連続性を摂関期研究の側から捉え直すべき段階に到達している。この課題へのアプローチとして本研究では移行期にあたる藤原頼通以降の摂関期を重点的に扱い、史料の調査・検討および政治構造についての研究を行う。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
There are several diaries of the nobility in the regency period after the administration of Fujiwara no Michinaga. On this research, we surveyed the manuscripts of those diaries, and got big results particularly on “Sakei-ki”(written by Minamoto no Tsuneyori) . Specifically, the classification of the manuscripts and the investigation of the ancient manuscript of “Sakei-ki” were achieved. In addition, we analyzed the way of political affairs processing by Fujiwara no Yorimichi (the son of Michinaga), and clarified that Yorimichi’s politics was critically different from his father’s politics.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
藤原道長以降の摂関期は日本が古代から中世へと変化する歴史上重要な時期であるにもかかわらず、前後の時期に比して史料の残存状況が悪く研究が進んでいない現状がある。
本研究では、この時期の史料を調査・整理することで研究基盤を整備するとともに、それらを用いて藤原頼通執政期の政治の特徴を明らかにした。このことは、古代史と中世史をつなぐという学術的意義を持つとともに、「摂関政治=藤原道長」という一般的イメージを見直すという社会的意義を持つ。
