| Outline of Research at the Start |
日本では政府統計ミクロデータの利用に制限があり、女性雇用における政策立案に必要なエビデンスが極めて少ない。本研究では、国勢調査の個票データを用いて、自然実験に基づく操作変数を用い、１出産・育児が女性の労働供給に与える因果効果を明らかにし、２出産・育児の異質性のメカニズムを解明した上で、３女性の活躍推進のための政策的インプリケーションを示すことを目的としている。同時に出生率と女性の労働力率の増加可能性について検討し、少子化社会におけるより効果的な出産・育児支援策を提言する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
First, this study proposed new estimation method to account for omitted variable bias and reverse causality simultaneously. Second, the universal sample of Japanese census data was used to conduct sub-sample analysis to detect potential heterogeneity. Third, we use Japanese data to answer what previous studies can’t do. We linked county level policy variables to national census to check the regional differences of causality paths.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
一時点での政府の意思決定を考える場合、女性の労働参加に支出可能な予算の総額は一定なので、女性の雇用推進に関する支出を増やせば、その分関連する出産・育児政策に対する支出を減らさなければならない。そのため、出生率は下落し、将来の労働力不足をもたらす可能性が高い。逆に、女性の雇用推進に関する支出を減らすと、出生率向上に必要な予算を確保できるが、当該時点における労働力不足に直面することになる。本研究は同時に出生率と女性の労働力率の増加可能性について検討し、少子化社会におけるより効果的な出産・育児支援策を提言した。
