| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は、「科学コミュニケーション」と呼ばれる領域が、実践および学際的学術研究の融合した専門領域として体系化される過程について、主に質的な手法を用いた経験的検証・考察を行うものである。具体的には、（１）関連する文献・資料のレビュー、および、（２）科学コミュニケーション領域において活動するアクター（主に科学教育学・科学技術社会論の実務者や研究者）を対象としたインタビュー、の二つを中心とした調査を実施する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In the formulation process of science communication as a specialised field in Japan, there have been changes in the trend of ideas and theoretical frameworks from the international discussion in science and technology studies drawn on by its Japanese counterpart. The shift can be attributed to the identity of the Japanese science and technology studies community pursued by its leading scholars, as well as to the then social backgrounds including especially the large-scale accidents at a nuclear power plant in northern Japan.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
科学コミュニケーションという、学術と政策、そして実践の融合領域の成立過程は、規範的な理論や論理によってのみ説明されるのではなく、領域の置かれた社会的状況や関連する政策課題に加えて、領域として追求する学術的・社会的なアイデンティティからの大きな影響を受けてきたことが示唆された。したがって、科学コミュニケーション領域の今後の展開を検討するに際しては、それらの要素について関係者らが議論を十分に尽くし相互理解を深めることが重要である。
