Outline of Research at the Start

この数年で目覚ましく進展した、重力波を含む多粒子天文学(マルチメッセンジャー天文学)によって変革した状況を見据え、ブラックホールが軽い場合に着目したブラックホール・中性子星連星合体の完全に一般相対論的な数値シミュレーションを行い、観測される電磁波信号を予言する。特に、重力波だけからは容易でないブラックホールか中性子星かの識別を、電磁波の観測によって行う戦略を立案する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

この若手研究の本来の期間中に遂行する予定であり実際に遂行した研究課題の延長として、GW190425のように全質量が大きくブラックホール・中性子星連星か連星中性子星かの峻別が難しい系に対し、ニュートリノ・磁場を取り入れた一般相対論的シミュレーションを遂行している。目的は本来の計画と共通しており、GW190425に類似の重力波イベントに対し、電磁波を交えたマルチメッセンジャー観測によって連星の種類を峻別し、さらに系の具体的な情報をより正確に取り出すことである。低解像度で系の発展を1秒間追った昨年度までのシミュレーションに引き続き、今年度は高解像度で300ミリ秒程度までの計算を行い、計算結果の解像度依存性を定量的に把握しつつある。磁気流体不安定性は解像度に鋭敏なため、具体的な様相は(予測される通り)二つの計算で異なる一方で、系から放出される質量についてはおおよそ同程度になって解像度に大きくは依存しないであろうことが推定できる段階まで計算が進んだ。今後はさらに、系からの質量放出がほぼ終了すると期待される500ミリ秒程度までは計算を続け、ジェットの駆動も解析・比較して論文にまとめる予定である。他にも類似の計算を共同研究者とともに遂行し、随時論文として公開・出版している。今年度は、計算結果の応用対象であるLIGO-Virgo-KAGRAのO4a観測が進んでいたものの、稼働している検出器が少なく位置決定精度が悪かったこともあり、残念ながら電磁波対応天体の検出はなかった。2024年度からはO4b観測が進み、さらに複数台検出器によって位置決定精度が上がることが期待されるため、関連するイベントからの電磁波が検出されれば計算結果の応用も進めたい。

Reason

共同研究者に恵まれたこともあって低質量連星合体や降着円盤風の系統的調査が迅速に進み、さらに初年度に検出されたGW190425に対し既に研究成果が応用されたことを受け、計画していなかったニュートリノ磁気流体数値相対論計算を実施する段階に至ったため。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

引き続き、ニュートリノ輸送・磁気流体効果を取り入れた連星合体計算を進め、元素合成や電磁波放射の理解に続ける。また、LIGO-Virgo-KAGRAのO4b観測の推移を注視しつつ、研究成果の応用を狙う。
