Outline of Research at the Start

地下深部で起きている流体活動と変形・化学反応の実態を明らかにする為に,岩石微細組織の化学組成分布を三次元的に観察する手法を開発する.開発手法は世界各地の沈み込み帯から採取した変成岩試料をターゲットに適用・展開し,様々な温度圧力条件下で起こっている流体活動の実態解明を行う.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2023年度は,コロナ禍の影響で遅れがちだった天然試料の解析を進めるとともに,岩石・鉱物の微細な三次元情報抽出とそのアウトプットに注力した.
2022年度より継続して,研究対象の天然試料として福徳岡ノ場の2021年噴火に由来する噴出物に着目し,岩石学的な性質の基本的な記載を行い,微細組織の検討を行った.特に,軽石中に含まれるナノ粒子(ナノライト)の産状が,噴火の形態に与える影響に注目し,薄片を用いてのナノ粒子の分布や,地球化学的特徴(鉄の酸化度)について検討を行った(Yoshida et al., 2023 Sci.Rep.; Carlut et al., 2024 Isl. Arc).
また,三次元情報抽出の成果として,モンゴルの高圧変成岩(エクロジャイト)に見られる微小包有物の三次元形態解析論文を出版した(Bayarbold et al., 2023 CMP).この論文では,流体包有物を集束イオンビーム装置(FIB)で切り出し,ナノスケールのX線CTで三次元形態情報抽出をするとともに,CT撮影後の試料を再度FIBで切り出し,具体的に各固相の化学組成を調べるという,本研究で独自に構築した複合的手法を用いた.微小包有物の構成相分析には非破壊のラマン分光法やCTなどがあるが,そのサイズの小ささゆえ微小包有物内の各構成相の同定には不確かさが残る困難があったが,本研究で用いた複合的分析は多相包有物の構成相を同定し記載する手法として有効であることが確認できた.
そのほか,過去の研究によって四国を形成したプレート運動に関して,炭酸塩を主体とする岩石に注目することで古い情報を得られる可能性がわかっていたが(Yoshida et al., 2021 Lithos),四国の変成帯内でも異なる岩体で同様の方針での分析を行い,類似の結果を得られることがわかったことを学会発表した(Yoshida et al., 2023 JpGU).

Reason

コロナ禍での遅れを取り戻しつつ,天然試料の分析と取得データのアウトプットを進めている.2023年度は比較的多くの結果を論文化出来たと思われる.
2024年度を研究期間最終年度として,これまでに得られている三次元微細組織のデータの論文化を年度内に達成できるよう務める.2023年度末時点で,論文化に向けてのデータ取得・整理状況は概ね良好である.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

コロナ禍の影響もあり度重なる期間延長を行っている本研究だが,2024年度が最終年度となる.
24年度は過年度に取得して学会発表などを行っている変成岩中の流体包有物の三次元微細組織データから,四国を形成したプレート運動に関わる流体活動に関する論文の投稿を行うとともに,類似試料での年代学データの論文化も行う.
論文化にあたって,必要に応じて追加の分析を行う可能性がある.
これらにより,研究期間中に取得した主要なデータのアウトプットは一通り終わる見込みである.余力があれば,さらなる研究の深堀りを天然試料を用いて行う.
