| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究では、1）地域における敗血症診療の実態を明らかとし、2）この結果に基づき教育ツール・診療支援モジュール開発など地域での敗血症診療支援を行い、3）最終的に地域特性を加味した敗血症診療ネットワークを樹立し、敗血症診療の質を向上させることを目的としている。本研究は、これまでに解明されていなかった地域における敗血症診療の問題点を浮き彫りにするのみならず、敗血症診療の質向上のための一手法となり、新たなエビデンス発信に至るものと考えられる。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This project aimed to improve the management of infectious diseases to clarify the underlying problem and establish sepsis management in our region. During the study period, novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) became main problem in intensive care unit. Hence, we analyzed the epidemiology of COVID-19 and made practical protocol for COVID-19. This protocol was provided to regional hospital.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
近年、国際的ガイドラインの整備がすすみ、机上では標準的な敗血症治療が展開できる準備が整いつつある。 しかし現実に目を向けると、集中治療室には限りがあり、そもそも地域においては集中治療医は不足している。本研究期間中に、新型コロナウイルス感染症（COVID-19）が全世界的な公衆衛生上の問題となったが、プライマリケアや地域の救急を担っている中・小規模病院では、集中治療が十分に提供できていないことが明らかとなった。今後、感染症診療に長けた集中治療医を効率的に育成する必要性が示唆されるものであった。
