| Outline of Research at the Start |
近年の糖尿病患者の高齢化や食習慣の多様化に伴い、「食品交換表を用いた適切なエネルギー管理」や「腎機能低下に対するたんぱく質制限」といった従来の画一的な食事栄養指導では十分な指導が困難となっている。そこで、個々の糖尿病患者に応じたテーラーメイドの食事療法を可能にするための食事栄養指導アルゴリズム開発を最終目的として、まず、糖尿病患者の臨床、食習慣等に関する経時的情報を収集しデータベースを構築する。次に、完成したデータベースを用いて、糖尿病患者における食事療法の実態調査及び腎機能障害を有する高齢糖尿病患者における最適な食事療法を検討し、得られた結果から食事栄養指導アルゴリズムを立案する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
I have created a system to developed a database containing clinical information, dietary habit and nutrient intakes of diabetic patients, aiming to establish a tailored nutrition counseling that is optimal for each patient’s pathology and dietary habit. I have revealed a current practice of diet therapy in diabetic patients, and examined an optimal nutrition counseling for diabetic patients with comorbidities such as gastrointestinal and cardiovascular diseases.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
糖尿病患者は増加の一途を辿っており、食事療法はその治療の根幹を成している。一方で、高齢化や食習慣の多様化に伴い、画一的な食事栄養指導では十分な指導が困難となっている。本研究では患者一人ひとりの食習慣や病態に即した食事栄養指導の提案につながることから、糖尿病患者へより良い栄養ケアを提供するための一助となると考える。
