| Outline of Research at the Start |
「女流画家」は、終戦後から1960年代半ばにかけ、女性解放や民主化を象徴するものとして、美術専門誌から大衆誌、米国政府の機関紙まで多様な媒体で論じられた。その議論の幅広さと注目の度合いにおいて、「女流画家」が、新たな存在である女性の「文化生産者」として、戦後の女性運動、とくに占領期とポスト占領期における女性政策に関するイデオロギーの多層性と変化を複雑に反映する政治的存在であったと考えられる。本研究では、終戦直後から1960年代半ばの言説を調査対象に、美術史のみならず女性史、戦後占領史の資料を横断的に検証することで、「女流画家」が戦後のイデオロギー的変化のなかで担った役割の内実を明らかにする。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study was initially intended to clarify the history of changes in gender role norms related to women's creative activities after World War II by tracing the key term "women painters. In the course of four years of research, I collected and analyzed materials on women artists from the 1960s to the 1990s in Japan, with the aim of writing an alternative history of art to Japanese art history, The research outcome were published , presented. We also launched research projects, and collaborated with women artists' research organizations outside of Japan, and were able to build an important body of materials and research network on women artists' studies.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究では、第一に、第二次世界大戦後の抽象絵画の流行における、女性画家の活動について調査し、彼女たちの仕事が歴史的に無視されてきたことを美術批評および美術史的言説のフェミニズム的分析から解き明かした。第2に、60年代から90年代という、全共闘からとウーマン・リブ、フェミニズムへと政治運動が展開していく時代に、女性美術家の女性表象、とりわけ性の表現が大きく変化したことを明らかにした。これらの研究は、美術家のみならず戦後の日本文化の一側面を明らかにする文化ジェンダー研究であり、今後も隣接領域の研究などに役立つのではないかと考えている。
