Outline of Research at the Start

f電子を持つ希土類化合物・アクチノイド化合物は、磁気・電荷・多極子秩序、異方的超伝導など特色ある量子物性の宝庫であり、これらの量子物性の本質の解明にはフェルミ面を明らかにすることが重要となる。近年、圧力誘起による量子臨界現象が注目されているが、圧力下におけるフェルミ面の研究はまだほぼ手付かずの分野といえる、本研究では、高圧化における3Dフェルミオロジーの手法を確立するための超小型圧力セルの設計・製作や精密な表面抵抗を観測可能なトンネルダイオード素子を用いた測定手法の開発を行なう。さらに圧力下での量子振動とその角度依存性の測定を行ない、強相関電子系物質の圧力下でのフェルミ面を明らかにしていく。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

f電子を持つ希土類化合物・アクチノイド化合物は、磁気・電荷・多極子秩序、異方的超伝導など特色ある量子物性の宝庫であり、これらの量子物性の本質の解明は強相関電子系研究の醍醐味である。圧力は物質の原子間距離の変化を通して、相互作用を制御し新しい物性を生み出す手段として活用されている。圧力誘起による超伝導、重い電子状態、磁性などはその代表例でありこのような量子臨界現象の微視的側面が注目されている。本研究課題では、小型の圧力装置を設計・開発し、このセルを用いて圧力誘起量子臨界現象の解明を行うことを目指している。今年度の研究実績は以下の通りである.
1.小型圧力セルを用いて、これまでUTe2が室温で約3-4GPaにおいて圧力誘起結晶構造相転移が起こることをこれまでに明らかにしたが、さらに低温におけるx線回折実験を行い、低温においてはこの圧力誘起による構造相転移がさらに高圧下で起こることがわかった。この結果から圧力―温度相図を描画したところ、常圧において摂氏約600-800度Cで相転移が起こる可能性が示唆され、示差熱分析法を行った結果、UTe2の構造不安定性にともなう異常を確認した。2.角度回転可能な小型の圧力セルの開発を進めている。ブリッジマン型の小型圧力セルに改良を加え、現在1.5 GPaまでの圧力を発生することに成功した。またより大きな試料容積を取ることができるピストンシリンダー型の回転可能な小型圧力セルの試験加圧を行った。 3.いくつかのEu化合物、U化合物の基礎物性や圧力下物性についての実験をった。反強磁性体であるEuSnPは圧力をかけると磁気転移温度が急激に上昇することがわかった。UCu2P2についてはウランの5f電子としては非常に高い強磁性転移温度を持つ同物質の発現機構に関する論文を執筆した。

4: Progress in research has been delayed.

Reason

試料育成や圧力効果測定については順調に進んでいるが、圧力装置の開発やテストは比較的長い時間継続して実験・試行を行う必要があるため時間を要している。また強磁場マグネットの動作不良などで小型圧力セルを回転機構に取り付けての実験が行えなかった。2024年度は角度回転機構に圧力セルをセットして試験測定、本測定を行い電気(磁気)抵抗による量子振動シュブニコフ・ドハース効果などによる強磁場下の量子振動の観測を目指す。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

小型圧力セルの加圧手法を確立し、加圧実験の精度を高める。さらに、角度回転機構にセットした上で、使用するマグネットの状況にもよるが、圧力下での量子振動や物性の角度依存性測定を早急に行う予定である。具体的な対象物質としては、HgSe、スピン三重項超伝導体UTe2、UCuP2の量子臨界性の探索、EuRu2P2、RPt3Al5などの化合物を考えており、高圧下物性を明らかにしていく予定である。また、本研究の物質探索時に発見された新たなEu化合物の物性研究も並行して進めている。
