Outline of Research at the Start

近年、世界各地の産業発達や鉱山開発にともない放出される重金属は、広域にわたる深刻な環境被害を引き起こしている。本研究では、特に鉱山開発による汚染が環境問題となっているアジア・南米・欧米の研究者と連携して、世界各地の鉱山汚染地域における鉱山廃棄物の安定性および毒性元素挙動に影響する微生物作用について明らかにする。鉱物態を基質として利用する新規微生物機構を解明し、風化産物や二次鉱物への毒性元素の固定化による安定化を目指す。
