Outline of Research at the Start

がん診断・治療の発展に貢献する日独間国際共同研究を実施することにより、日本の強みであるPETイメージング物理研究を格段に発展させることを目指す。具体的には、ミュンヘン大学Katia Parodi教授のSIRMIOプロジェクトに参加し、陽子線治療ビーム照射とPET分子イメージングが同時にできる世界初となる小動物実験プラットフォームを共同開発する。日本ではRI法規制下にあったビーム照射中の動物PET実験が、海外にてはじめて実施可能となる。そして、核医学物理研究の国際ネットワークの中で中核的な役割を担うことにより、LMUをはじめとする国際共同研究の強化のほか、将来を担うグローバル若手研究者の育成を図る。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究のゴールは、がん診断・治療の発展に貢献する日独間国際共同研究を実施することにより、日本の強みであるPET物理研究を発展させることである。具体的には、ミュンヘン大学Katia Parodi教授のSIRMIOプロジェクトに参加し、陽子線治療ビーム照射とPET分子イメージングが同時にできる小動物実験プラットフォームの共同開発を進めた。2年目となる2020年度は、昨年度開発したDOI検出器技術を応用する複数の研究テーマを実施した。まず、小さなターゲットに粒子線ビームを照射する技術として、光学カメラにより粒子線ビームのエネルギ広がりを可視化する方法を確立した(Han Gyu Kang, et al., PMB 235002, 2020/18H05967との合同成果)。次いで、実際の生体におけるビーム停止位置を可視化するためのOpenPET装置を開発し(Hideaki Tashima, et al., TRPMS, in press)、光学カメラとOpenPETで結果が整合することを検証した(Akram Mohammadi, et al., PMB 125006, 2020/17K09076との合同成果)。そして、粒子線ビーム可視化と分子イメージングが同時にできる独自装置「whole gamma imaging (WGI)」を開発した(Eiji Yoshida, et al., PMB 125013, 2020/18K19949および20H00671との合同成果)。WGI用画像再構成法を開発し、分子イメージング性能を実証した(Hideaki Tashima, et al, PMB 225038, 2020/18K19949, 20H00671, 20H05667および20K12683との合同成果)。なお、本研究は2020年度途中で中止し、続きは基盤研究(S)にて行うことになった。
