Research Abstract

イオン液体は、一般に蒸気圧が極めて低く、難燃性で、広い温度範囲で利用できるなど、ガス分離精製の吸収液として長所となる多くの特徴をもつ。我々は、それらの特徴を活かし、イオン液体を用いたガス分離精製法や二酸化炭素の分離回収技術の開発を進めてきた。本研究では、優れたガス(CO_2)吸収特性を示すイオン液体の開発とガス吸収メカニズムの解明を主な目標として研究に取り組んだ。
本年度は、1-ブチル-3-メチルイミダゾリウムビス(トリフルオロスルポニル)アミド([BMIM][Tf_2N])に注目し、その^1H,^<13>C,^<19>F核のNMR縦緩和時間を測定して、イオン液体中のダイナミクスについて検討した。13Cの縦緩和時間と核オーバーハウザー効果から求めた回転相関時間は、イミダゾリウム環で非常に長く、アルキル側鎖では末端に行くにしたがい短くなることが確認された。これらの回転運動の違いは、正に帯電したイミダゾリウム環とアニオンとのイオン的な相互作用を反映したものと考えられる。また、[BMIM][Tf_2N]にCO_2を加圧、溶解したところ、回転相関時間は顕著に短くなることが確認された。特に、回転相関時間の減少はイミダゾリウム環において顕著であり、CO_2分子はカチオンーアニオン間の相互作用を破壊してイオン液体中に吸収されることを反映したものと考えられる。一方、同様にO_2を溶解させたところ、常磁性緩和の効果はイミダゾリウム環よりもむしろアルキル鎖の方が大きく、非極性のO_2は疎水性領域に不均一に吸収されることが示唆された。さらに、分子動力学法やSPring-8での高エネルギーX線実験により溶液構造の解析を進めて、ガス吸収メカニズムの解明に取り組んだ。
